Open Call | Deadline 27th May

This year we have worked with two London schools, and we are now looking to work with artists to make responses to the work we have produced.

The project:

Queering the Art Classroom is seeking London based LGBTQ+ artists from all disciplines to display work as part of their exhibition with Sutton House in September 2019.

We would like this work to respond to our upcoming exhibition with Sutton House in June. This exhibition is of student artwork from secondary schools we have worked with throughout the year. If you cannot make it to see this show, we will send you images, and you will have access to our galleries via our website.

New works are encouraged, but previously shown pieces are accepted. Alongside the exhibition will run a public programme of events, so proposals for performances, music, talks, readings, workshops and reading groups are welcome.

In their proposals, the successful applicant will have demonstrated an understanding of LGBTQ+ themes. Our aim is to pay each artist fairly – the amount of funding is dependent upon a successful grant application.
